As many of us know, April Hernandez is Sepulveda Middle School’s ASB President. Reporter Arissai Padilla went out to ask her about her status as president. In this article we will discover more about April’s thoughts about leadership and our school.
Question: How does it feel to be the school ASB president?
April Hernandez: “As the ASB President now, it’s kind of weird because I didn’t think I’d win. But I did! Now I get to plan stuff and make decisions. It’s sorta stressful but also really cool and people like it, I guess. Now I have to work with the principal and teachers. I want to make school more fun. We’re going to try to do spirit weeks and movie nights.”
Q: What are you going to change for the school?
A: “We need more spirit rallies and better cafeteria snacks! Teachers should listen to us more, and we need more clubs. School is stressful, so let’s do charity events to help. That’d be awesome!”
Q: Why did you want to become ASB president?
A: “I wanted to become ASB President because I care about my school and want to make it a better place. I’m excited to lead and make positive changes that benefit everyone. I want to listen to students’ ideas, boost school spirit, and create more opportunities for fun and growth.”
Q: What do you do as ASB President?
A: “As ASB president, my job is to make school more fun, lead the student council, listen to students’ ideas, plan cool events like dances and spirit weeks”
Q: What have you done for the school so far?
A: “As ASB President, l’ve made it my mission to bring school spirit to new heights. This year, I organized epic events: Halloween Dance – We transformed the Evan’s Hall into a spooky Coraline & The Nightmare Before Christmas theme, complete with a DJ, costume contest, stickers and tattoos.”
